Trail Rider Magazine Feature - January 2007
Check
out this beauty of a tool kit. It's from Blue Ridge Racing
and well, I can't quite get over how nice it is. I have my own fanny
pack loaded with tools that might come in handy some time, kind
of a hit or miss selection. All the tools are bike specific and
pretty much limited to adjust the chain or changing a tire. But
if I switch brands of bikes, lots of my tools won't fit.
We
do get to ride some test bikes here at Trail Rider so either I needed
to build a bigger assortment of tools to cover a wider range of
bikes, or what I decided to do, was check out one of the Blue Ridge
kits. Blue Ridge made it easy. All I needed to do was specify what
size axle wrenches I needed and Blue Ridge filled the rest of the
pack.
Should I list all the tools in the kit? Well that would be a pretty
hefty list, but here are the highlights: Sockets, T handle wrench,
screw driver bits, allen head bits, open end wrenches, adjustable
wrench, pliers, low pressure tire gauge. Plus a small roll of wire,
duct tape and electrical tape. A tow strap, a wind proof butane
lighter, a bottle of Loc-Tite, plus plus plus.
The
tools are all very nice, better than the tools I have in my garage
box. They are well thought out, compact and light. The Blue Ridge
kit had more tools in it than my kit and still weighed less! The
tools come in a Ballistic Nylon fanny pack you wear around your
waist. Or the strap comes off and you can bolt it to your fender
with the enclosed hardware. My self, I threw the whole kit in the
saddle bag of my 640 KTM and put some new inner tubes in the other
side to balance the weight and took off across the Arizona desert.
It was comforting to know I had a better selection of tools than
I had in my old kit. Plus you should see the envy in they eyes of
your buddies when you break this sweetie out.
I give the Blue Ridge Racking tool kits two thumbs up, you can read
more about them at their web site at www.blueridgeracing.com or
give Greg and the gang a call at 877-299-7353 Tell them Trail Rider
sent you.
