Tow
Strap
Anyone
that's ever pushed a bike more than a few feet will tell you if
you only pack one item for riding it should be a tow strap. Ours
is 15' long, has a loop sewn at both ends, comes in a nice carrying
case, weighs
only 3 oz and
is made from ballistic nylon so you could probably
pull a car with it.
If
you use the following suggestions for towing, it'll save you a lot
of pain and suffering:
- secure
strap to the sub frame on the towing bike or ATV as close to the
centerline as possible
- remove
front headlight/number plate and wrap around the steering head
once then hold the end loop with your clutch hand. This allows
for a quick release if things get tricky
- let
the towed bike slow both bikes down
-
keep constant tension on the strap
-
coast through turns rather than powering through them
- never
apply power when one bike is out of line with the other
-
do everything smoothly
- check
often to see if the towee is still there
- keep
you speed up - it's easier to tow at 20 MPH than at 5 MPH
